The main feature of a honky tonk bar is that they have two pianos setup, two men who know how to play them - and they can sing pretty well. Most can sing pretty damn well, in fact. And not just old church hymns but timeless hits from Elton John, 'Sweet Caroline', and others. Picture karoke with John Legend and James Cordon, and you got a pretty good idea what you're in for.

By the fourth song the woos from the crowd meet the entertainers' expectations, and you smile because you feel relaxed in a way.
